Border's book store in the West Village is closing and I snagged a copy of 'Rice's Architectural Primer'. This book is really well done. The artist and aurthor, Matthew Rice, has traveled abroad and hand drawn very charming, detailed, water color renderings of buildings. I find this book very useful for set design in the theatre. If you are looking for a period door, window, brick, roof you will find it in this book. It even shows a map telling you where style is located in the world. I have many books like this in my library already but it's the charming factor of the illustrations that makes it worth getting. Please note that this book is hard to find, you may have to have it shipped from across seas (London). Or you can try your luck on ebay.
