So after all these years working in the theatre I have decided that I need a drafting table to help me with my stage work and now greeting cards. I'm a bit tired of cleaning off the dinnnig room table. Some times I get my work area nice and messy with everything the way I want and then I have to clean up and put things away. The one that I am looking at is metal and glass. Smudges may drive me crazy and then you have to buy windex and paper towels or I guess I could leave it smudgy.

Today I watched one of my favorite movies from the early 90's. What movie stars Goldie Hawn, Meryl Streep, Bruce Willis with a small apperance by Isabella Rossellini? If you guessed Death Becomes Her then you are correct. This is a silly, dark comedy about finding eternal youth through a magic potion. I won't say any more if you have not seen it.
Again, this movie was shot in the early 90's, 1992 to be exact, and has some great set desgins in it. I like how they sneak in Art Nouveau designs, but in a 90's sorta way, in the bedroom with the in style colors of mauve and pinky tones with super faky silk flowers. Now that I think about my elementary school colors back then were mauve and blue. Very period now. Garland Civic Theatre asked me to design the following shows for their
2011-2012 season. The Mikado, Pollyanna, and Love from a Stranger. I have been working on a design for The Mikado to present at the production meeting coming up. We shall see what the final design looks like here in a few weeks. I had a great photo shoot the other day. The shoot was kind of fun and playful as that best fit me. Surprised though that it took 2 hours and 200 plus photos to get a handful of great pictures. I will be using Chuck, the photographer, to photograph my sets and he lives right around the corner! How great is that! Visit Chuck's website for booking information at MarceloMedia.com.
Tomorrow I have a photo shoot for head shots. This is most exciting as I have never had them done before. I don't think these will be normal head shots, I want them to be fun and playful. Reason for photos? Theatres ask for them when I work on a show to place in the program and I am tired of having to crop my prom pictures. We shall see how it goes.
