Debuting in Houston, TX in 1991, the Tony award-winning authors of Nine have transformed Gaston Leroux' The Phantom of the Opera into a mesmerizing sensation that enraptures audiences with a breathtaking musical score. Take a different look through the opera glasses at Erik, Christine and Carlotta in this striking yet tragic tale of music, mystery, betrayal, love and salvation that all begins with a disfigured boy raised in the catacombs of the Paris Opera House. Having the only legitimate rights to Leroux’ novel, its story offers a deeper exploration of the phantom's past and his true relationship with Gérard Carrière, the head of the Opera House. Discover even more of what lies behind the tormented mask… with Phantom.

A picture of the unfinished staircase in my current show, Phantom (The Maury Yeston version). Thank you Dane for constructing a beautiful staircase. (Dane is pictured below standing in the middle.) Color of the step unit, black with gold flecks and marbled veining.
Below is the model for the stair unit. The designed changed a bit from pictured below. The balustrades have not been placed on yet. Only in the theatre do you have castered stairs that move and turn into a larger staircase.
Not only did I design the Phantom set I got to be in the shoot today too! I was killed. :( After I died I helped with one of the scenes being shot. Thank you Chuck and Nate!
My blog is all about the design process, design in general (mainly set design),designers I love and architecture. Take a look behind the curtain!
