Here are a couple of 'Cats' pictures that were taken after the show. Pictured below are Darius Robinson, Patty Granville and myself.
Narrowing the design down for Pillow Talk. The interior decoration will make or break this show. I have been doing lots of research, now I must locate furniture and period fabrics. Going to to hit up Harry Hines Blvd fabric stores in a couple of weeks.
Here are the production photos from the Mikado. Click on a picture to enlarge. Pictures were taken by www.marcelomedia.com
I had my photographer shoot the Mikado set today. He took some great pictures with cool angles and lenses. Pictures will be posted on Tuesday at the latest. We have one more performance tomorrow at 2:30pm. I would like to thank Morgana Shaw for directing a great show, she should be very proud!
Just watched the movie Pillow Talk this morning. This movie was lots of fun to look at and has a simple plot which made it charming . Trying to design this to fit in the small theatre at the Granville Arts Center will be harder than fitting the Noises Off set. I am in the process of reading the script and seeing what I must have for basic functions like doors, tables, a piano that has to be played, and multiple scenes! Time to hit the drafting table.
Yesterday while I was in the middle of finishing the set for The Mikado I had to attend an impromptu production meeting for Pillow Talk. I just happened to have a stack of books in the car for interior decorating in the late 1950's thanks to a designer friend of mine. I must change from story book look to 1959 apartment. I think it's going to be a fun show. Just now getting around to reading the script and watching the movie made famous by Doris Day.
My blog is all about the design process, design in general (mainly set design),designers I love and architecture. Take a look behind the curtain!
