Check out my friend, Clare on Art and Seek and see a little what goes into being a set designer!
I found this on You Tube and this is amazing. It's done with projection only!!!
Working on a production of Macbeth that opens in June. I will keep you posted on this project!
Last week I went to the happiest place on earth, Disneyland! The park celebrates 61 years and it still looks new. Below are images of some of the iconic rides in the park. My favorite rides are Indiana Jones, The Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean. Click each picture below to enlarge.
If you have been wondering where I have been over the past....um eight months I have been back in school studying set design at Richland College in Dallas, Texas.
It was a actually a lot of fun to be back in the classroom with other designers and actors. The class was part of the spring production of Boeing Boeing, a show I have worked on in the past as an assistant this time as a designer.
Designing this show took about four times longer than normal but I really was able to be cautious on my selections and design process.
Here are some of the photos from the all student ran production.
This is the most impressive thing I have ever seen. I know as a set designer it is hard for the director and producers to see the show in your head. The video below is the entire show in a scale model complete with lighting and special effects. WOW!
A couple of weeks ago I saw the Broadway National Tour of Cinderella. I was curious to see this show because sometime last year I purchased a limited edition print of the set design for this production. Only five prints were ever made and signed by the designer. I have one! I have it hanging on my living room wall. I have been looking at it wondering if I was ever going to see the production. I did and it was most magical. Enjoy looking at the artwork, set design and clip of the show! Oh and by the way I'm a big fan of this designer! Her name is Anna Louizos, enjoy browsing her website!
I saw the new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera last September. It was an amazing production, scaled back but just as amazing. The scenery was just as memorable, but new. Enjoy watching the load in!
My blog is all about the design process, design in general (mainly set design),designers I love and architecture. Take a look behind the curtain!
