Please do not use latex paint on muslin while painting it on a latex floor. Hope that made sense to you. What do you think happened? (A) The lights melted the muslin (B) Nothing (C) The latex bleed through the muslin and stuck itself to the latex floor and while it was being peeled of the floor it took several layers of paint with it resulting repainting the floor and having paint stuck to the muslin. (D) All of the above The correct answer is C. This happened to me on a backdrop that I designed and painted for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and a little project yesterday. It was a nightmare to get the floor back to normal, not to mention it had layers of paint stuck to the back of the drop making it weigh more than it should.
Tip. Use scenic paint when painting backdrops or special projects made of muslin. Just know that scenic paint it not cheap ($50 a gallon and up). This paint designed for the theatre is milk based and can be stinky if old (worst smell of your life).
