ABOUT
Joseph Cummings is a set designer whose creative vision and attention to detail have left a mark on theater audiences. One of Joseph's highlights was his role as a design consultant for the first Texas college production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's "The Phantom of the Opera" at Dallas College-Cedar Valley Campus. Throughout his career, Joseph has been involved in numerous world premiere productions, including "The Red Pashmina" (MainStage Irving-Las Colinas and Think India), "The Chicken Who Wasn't Chicken," "Dracula: A Haunted Tale of Dating," and "Daffodil Girls" (Fun House Theatre & Film).
Joseph's portfolio also includes a wide range of designs for both classic and contemporary productions. From "An Act of God" to "Phantom" and "The Full Monty" (MainStage Irving-Las Colinas), as well as "Lysistrata" (Dallas College-Mountain View Campus) and "Hamlet" (Fun House Theatre & Film), his designs have been seen across the DFW metroplex.
In addition to his solo work, Joseph has had the privilege of collaborating with esteemed designers and industry veterans, including Clare Floyd DeVries and Tony Award Winner John Arnone. His contributions as an assistant on productions such as "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" (Uptown Players), "Steel Magnolias" (Contemporary Theatre of Dallas), and "Boeing Boeing" (Circle Theatre) have further solidified his reputation as a versatile and invaluable member of the theatrical community.
Joseph's designs extend beyond the stage, with projects including the creation of display windows and lobby decorations for venues such as Hotel Crescent Court, The Spa at the Crescent, The Stoneleigh Hotel in Dallas, and The Ritz-Carlton. His dedication to excellence has not gone unnoticed, as Joseph is a recipient of the Column Award for Best Original Scenic Design of a Musical for "Monty Python's Spamalot," and has received nominations for his work on "Phantom".
