Had a great time at last night's gala, The 15th Annual The Column Awards. Hosted by John Garcia and Broadway's talented beauty, Rachel York. Guest appearances by Liz McCartney and Steve Blanchard who are currently in the US tour of Disney's The Little Mermaid.
The show I was apart of, Monty Python's Spamalot, won many awards including Best Director, Clay White, Best Musical-Non Equity, and Best Original Scenic Design by me! Below are pictures from the gala. Click on one to enlarge.

Below is the start of my golden ring for Lysistrata. This is an integral piece to the set. It will be painted gold, house a functional red drape, it will light with bulbs going all the way around, and will have projection shot through it. © 2014 Stage Design by Joseph
Reading the script for the Maury Yeston Version of Phantom. Thinking about all of these set changes. Having a great team makes me feel relieved.
Thinking about a design that goes up in the summer. Just getting ideas for a production meeting on Tuesday. I'm designing the Maury Yeston version of Phantom.
Below is the Paris Opera House that took decades to build. It's the setting for Phantom. My model for Lysistrata in action! Watch the video to get a sneak peek on the set design. Looks like I am designing another summer show. Here is the creator talking about the musical. My newest and biggest model yet! It's 3/8th scale and measures one foot wide and almost three feet long.
Time to work on the build plans and get this thing built. |
My blog is all about the design process, set design, designers I love and architecture. Take a look behind the curtain!
