After hours and hours of practice I have my first computer drawn image with my new Bamboo tablet! I drew my living room lamp, a few more hours and I should get the hang of this thing. Here is a picture of me with the softwear drawing it for me....pretty impressive! After another year of practice I should be able to draw like the computer.

Being a set designer you learn to paint and those painting techniques can transfer into makeup design. Today I worked on a makeup design for the show I am set designing, Man of la Mancha. Today we had a photo shoot and I learned what worked and what needs to be improved, overall it turned out really great! I think once you learn to paint and blend colors you can probably tackle makeup, easy breezy. Today I worked on the model for the student film. I think I have just a few more little things to do and I can call it FINISHED! Next Tuesday I will begin the model for Man of la Mancha. Below was my watercolor rendering for the show. I will use this and the measurements I took the other week to figure out the set in 3D form. Just a quick note, the rendering was so large I could not scan the whole thing but you get the idea.
Today I will be finishing up the movie model I have been working on and off of since September 2011. I can start working on my Man of la Mancha model for Funhouse Theatre & Film. The new model is due the first week of August and I have to create it from scratch including the stage itself. Time to get busy! The Dallas Theatre Center has staged an amazing production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Local set designer, Bob Levalle, has designed a Broadway quality set. The staging, set and costumes have been re-imagined for a glossy production . One of my favorite things was the moving orchestra on the stage! That's right they moved on a rolling wagon that would send them from one side of the stage to the other....how cool is that I saw Cathy Rigby star in Peter Pan last night and she gave a dazzling performance! You really did think that she was a young boy. My favorite was when she flew into the audience for her bow at the end of the show, you could hear people gasp. I met her after the performance and I told her that it looked like she was having a blast on stage and she said that she pinches herself every night that she gets to do this as her job! Thanks Ms. Rigby for a memorable performance and raising money to your wonderful charity and a keepsake I will treasure. Just finished my water color rendering for Man of La Mancha. I saw a few sketching online by Piranesi, he was an Italian artist famous for his etchings of Rome and of fictitious, atmospheric "prisons". Thanks Clare for steering me in the right direction for this one. I let those images sit in my head and then this morning the set unfolded and had the jot it down. I grabbed my water colors and created my Man of La Mancha World. I will post the rendering as soon as it is approved. Below was the picture that I really liked by Piranesi. Today I have tickets for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at The Dallas Theatre Center for a 2pm show. After that I have tickets for Peter Pan starring Cathy Rigby at The Music Hall at Fair Park at 8pm. Looking forward to seeing both shows, will let you know what I think!
I am very excited to get the Bamboo Create tablet! I have been waiting this for a long time. This nifty little pad will help with artist renderings as well as get me on track with my greeting cards. Thanks mom for an early Birthday present, I will use this with pride! |
