Just finished painting a play called The Legend of Arthur presented by Fun House Theatre & Film. The director wrote this show and it's a lot of fun. Youngsters from 8 and up perform in this Nintendo game inspired show, even has some video projection of real Mario & Zelda scenes. The show opens March 2nd and runs through the 25th. Check out the showtimes and get your tickets.

I saw Love Never Dies a couple of days ago. This musical is the sequel to the blockbuster mega hit, The Phantom of the Opera. When I heard about this a couple of years ago I was really excited to know what would happen next! Does Christine get married? Does the Phantom have another love interest? What becomes of the Opera Populaire and Carlotta strutting round the stage squawking her lungs out? The Phantom ends up coming over to America and setting root on Coney Island (1906) among the freaks. He has an attraction called Phantasma where Meg Giry, Christine's friend in the Phantom #1, performs. Christine is called to America to sing at the new opera house in New York City summond by Rodger Hammerstein. She and her hubby Roual and son Gustav end up on Coney Island, tricked, where Christine is confronted by the Phantom. Note, the song Beneath a Moonless Sky is juicy and romantic and shocking. This musical is more three dimensional and has a great plot! It has twist and turns and a very sad, tragic, gut wrenching ending. I was guilty of sobbing, along with everyone else in the room. I did not see it in Australia, only place in the world you can see it at the moment. I did see it in the movie theatre on the big screen. They filmed this in front of a live audience complete with a triple revolving stage. They had even had a proscenium arch that revolved from upstage to downstage, never have I seen this done! I personally liked this just as mush as the first and will yearn to see it live. I was surprised with this number (see clip below) because it was kinda rock n roll. The song didn't match anything else in the show but was fantastic. So this is a fun treat to watch. It's Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford signing at the Tony Awards in Phantom! |
