Having a production meeting at my apartment today.
Showing the director the full model and going over story boarding some scenes.

Tomorrow morning will be about creating a ground plan for Phantom. I have a feeling it is just the preliminary. I have a lot going on; staircases, platforms, drops, screens and projectors. Getting excited!
I have been swamped lately. So much I took a month long sabbatical. What have I been doing? Well, designing two shows that open late summer. My first show that opens is Maury Yeston's musical version of Phantom. Below is a sneak peak at the model. This version is a lot different than the Andrew Lloyd Webber show ...a lot. This show has 30 set changes. A good portion of the design will have projected or animated scenes that will be shot onto multiple hanging scrims and cycs (that will fly in and out of the stage) with additional moving pieces, hanging drops, and hazers. That's a lot to process and to design for. We still have some filming to do in a studio with live actors!
At the same time I am designing Legally Blonde. Another show with a gajillion scene changes. After all of this it will be time to take a little vacation somewhere....anywhere. |
My blog is all about the design process, set design, designers I love and architecture. Take a look behind the curtain!
