In the process of designing a tree house set. Almost got it, just need a little longer!
The NEW production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera is coming to North America! That means it will be in Dallas soon. This production has all new staging and sets to freshen up the production. The world famous costumes by Maria Bjornson are left intact. Check out the clip below to see what it takes to install the new production in a theater. I am designing a show coming up and this also involves creating a logo used in the production. I am using the same approach as I would normally would take.
For this logo I ask myself: What colors are being used? How is this logo being used? Where will this logo be? (On a costume, the cover of the program?) Is it being massed produced? Will the audience see the logo from their seats? Things have been crazy lately! Lets see...I made a 91 in my computer class with a lesson average of 87.5 overall, starting my psychology class, painted a show last week, thinking about a design to go up next month, working full time and my computer crashed this week (took me 13 hours to restore it). The good news is I put in for vacation to take a total of 9 days off. I plan not to really do anything other than take it easy.
Please do not use latex paint on muslin while painting it on a latex floor. Hope that made sense to you. What do you think happened? (A) The lights melted the muslin (B) Nothing (C) The latex bleed through the muslin and stuck itself to the latex floor and while it was being peeled of the floor it took several layers of paint with it resulting repainting the floor and having paint stuck to the muslin. (D) All of the above The correct answer is C. This happened to me on a backdrop that I designed and painted for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and a little project yesterday. It was a nightmare to get the floor back to normal, not to mention it had layers of paint stuck to the back of the drop making it weigh more than it should.
Tip. Use scenic paint when painting backdrops or special projects made of muslin. Just know that scenic paint it not cheap ($50 a gallon and up). This paint designed for the theatre is milk based and can be stinky if old (worst smell of your life). Today was; meet a friend for lunch, wash three loads of laundry, clean the apartment, take two exams passing with a 80 and 90, and turn in homework to be graded Day! Also had to think about two future set designs and paint choices for a show next week, going to curl in a ball and go to sleep now.
Tonight was the closing performance of Hamlet. I am proud of the entire youth cast for tackling one of the hardest plays of all time. Hats off to Bren and Jeff for AMAZING work!
