Water Tower Theatre

Tonight I saw The Mystery of Irma Vep presented by Water Tower Theatre. This show will be running now through October 21st. Click here to check show times and tickets.

This show has been designed by my friend Clare DeVries and is a kooky, silly scary good time. Think of Rebecca, The Mummy's Claw, Dracula, and melodramatic acting and you have the idea of this penny dreadful tale.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

My next set design project will be most interesting. We our using my Man of la Mancha set that is currently standing even though the show has closed. It will receive a little makeover to transform into Dracula 'A Tale of Dating'. We will take down the prison bars and chains and place some new set dressing and bring in some furniture. It will take a about a day to turn into something new. Never thought when I designed this dungeon set it would be Dracula's home.

Lazy Day

Today was a day to relax. This involved champagne, spending time with a friend, and getting a haircut and massage at The Crescent. Also watched Love Never Dies again, love that show!

I have fallen in love with a set designer that is based out of Australia. Her name is Gabriela Tylesova and her designs are imaginative and have a signature look. Today I worked on the model for the student film. I think I have just a few more little things to do and I can call it FINISHED! Next Tuesday I will begin the model for Man of la Mancha. Below was my watercolor rendering for the show. I will use this and the measurements I took the other week to figure out the set in 3D form. Just a quick note, the rendering was so large I could not scan the whole thing but you get the idea.

Love Never Dies

Just watched Love Never Dies, continuation of Phantom of the Opera, and the ending is soo ...... This production is better than the original hands down and I am a huge Phantom phan. Set, costuming, score, and story make this the most lavished spectacle of our time. If you buy the London soundtrack expect a totally different score, better, with the new live show as it's just amazing. Click on the picture below to enlarge.

Last Chance

Sunday September 16th is the last day you can catch Man of la Mancha playing at Funhouse Theatre and Film directed by Jeff Swearingen. Show times are 2:15pm and 7:15pm. I really enjoyed creating this set, it will have a little makeover for the next production of......!

Cartoon Sets

Just watched two cartoons tonight where they were designing stage sets, how fun is that! Well actually one show they were repairing the set where someone destroyed it! True in real life too.
